Sunday November 20th.

Following an inaugral event in Brooklyn in 2009 and a follow-up in London earlier this year, the third Black Metal Theory Symposium takes place in the Pint Bar on Eden Quay, Dublin this coming Sunday.

Organised by Nicola Masciandaro, Michael O’Rourke and Karin Sellberg, it features an afternoon of talks, followed by a night of live music from Wound Upon Wound and Eternal Helcaraxe. According to the organisers:

This Black Metal Theory Symposium invites speculations, commentaries, reflections, archivizations, reconceptualizations and interventions on pestilence, decay, plague, decomposition, putrefaction, rot, corpses, infestation, consumption, perversion, cannibalism, necrophilia, flesh, feeding, worms, insects, rats, rationalism, plants, ecology, swarms, maggots, fever, vampirism, waste … among other things. “Let’s gather our contagious diseases and make love” (Negarestani, Cyclonopedia).

Speakers include Paul Ennis, Diarmuid Hester, Nicola Masciandaro, Michael O’ Rourke, Zachary Price, Karin Sellberg, Steven Shakespeare, Aspasia Stephanou, Scott Wilson, and Ben Woodard. It’s free in, there’s no need to register, and the fun starts at 2pm.
