Open Day: 29 November 2019
11 am – 4 pm
Courtyard of the National Gallery of Ireland

Join ACW for the Open Day of Naschaus: The Uncertain School. Inspired by the Bauhaus, this transgenerational school is founded on three educational pillars: Creativity, Criticality, Compassion. It is a space to cultivate resilience, adaptability, ambivalence, and absurdity. Our Open Day will feature a drop-in programme of engaging workshops, activities and tours, open to all ages, instilling values of critical thought and creative expression.

NASCHAUS is an educational environment for the twenty-first century. Designed by students of the MA/MFA Art in the Contemporary World (ACW) at NCAD, NASCHAUS is a space to cultivate resilience, adaptability, ambivalence, and absurdity.

Though 100 years apart, NASCHAUS, like the Bauhaus, aims to respond to the current moment of industrial change. In this age of information, we will consider technological advancement, automatization, and growing uncertainty in social, political, and economic systems.

An itinerant school that embraces short-termism, provisionality, and failure, NASCHAUS will occupy the National Gallery for a single Open Day and then dissolve. Join us for our Open Day, pick up a prospectus, participate in our programme, and sign up for one of our exciting, non-existent courses.

This is a public event. Participation and collaboration is welcomed.
